They lied about the price. I was quoted $483.37 USD, I have the contract which includes taxes and airport fees. In fact, I have it written down several times and what I agreed to at the counter for $483.37 USD , they even sent me a receipt after I returned the car that says they were going to charge me $483.37 USD. Then, a week later, they charge my credit card $610. Two car warnings from two different cars in one hour time since the start of my rental. One is 2024 Nissan Altima with 45k miles another one is 2023 Nissan Altima with 65k miles. Avoid at all costs. National always better than Hertz.
It was a terrible experience at Hilo airport. They do not have president circle nor do they have a dedicated line for PC customers. Only 1 person is at the counter. I waited 30 minutes in line while people with no reservation had every option explained to them in detail. When I asked about PC, the guy behind the counter just laughed. They have me a dangerous car to drive. It shifted sideways when it hit bumps and would lurch forward at stop lights. They took no responsibility for it at all. The second car they have me was dirty. You couldn't see out of the mirrors. Still they took no responsibility for it at all. The third car did not match what I had already paid for.
Charged for Premium Roadside Service when I specifically stated LDW was the only optional insurance/charge I wanted. We were told to pick any car in a range of parking spaces on a specific row. The first car we selected had an expiring tag, so we were sent back from the parking lot gate to pick another one. The 2nd car we selected had no key. The 3rd car we selected also had an expiring tag. It took 4 cars (& shuffling luggage) before we could finally leave the parking lot. Return experience was quite easy, though.
