I’ve rented from Hertz at dozens of airports around the world and have always remained loyal to the brand because of the generally reliable service. But after four separate interactions with the staff at this Hilo location, I can confidently say these are the rudest Hertz employees I’ve ever encountered. Two trips to Hilo within a couple weeks. Made pre-paid reservations for both. They screwed me twice. RENTAL 1: Showed up at desk with a drivers license and a credit card - just like the reminder told me. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A CAR because I didn't have the card used to make the reservation. Seemed like a pretext. I contacted Hertz corporate for a refund and they emailed back thanking me for contacting them. No refund. I am now contesting through my credit card. I selected a Kia Soul at the Hilo airport, ordering it through Priceline, and it was only $21 a day! I had a fantastic and satisfying experience with Hertz.

I rent from the Hilo-ITO Hertz frequently as I live in town but rent a car twice a week to drive to Kona for work. The gentleman at the desk tonight is an absolute gem, I forgot my laptop bag in the car after a 12 hour work day and had to come back to get it - he was fun, polite and he and the lady that got it from the car were prompt and kind about it. It's easy to get burned out in the customer service industry, I appreciate their hospitality.
