’ve been a loyal Hertz customer for years, but this recent experience was unacceptable. I received a vehicle in filthy condition—food remnants, personal items, stained seats, and even a half-eaten doughnut under the driver’s seat. The car was also mechanically unsound, with worn brake pads, squeaky components, and a shaky suspension. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue—including visiting a Hertz location and chatting with several support agents—I was denied a replacement vehicle. I rented a Blue Kia (LZH363-Maine) and it was the worst. Immediately as I received the car, I noticed how dirty it was: the frame was brown, it needed a detail, and when I turned on the A/C it wreaked of a mildewy smell. I hadn’t even left the parking lot. When I went in to let them know about the problems, they told me this is standard with Lyft rentals - the drivers are responsible for maintenance (Hertz would pay). Absolutely the worst rental experience! The EV had a flat tire only after 65 miles!! The low tire pressure alert was on about 15 minute after we got the car. They refused to take any responsibility! We waited 3 hours for towing on the suburbs of Boston; they said a 60-minute wait. They still charged us $390 for this ridiculous service. The EV does not come with a spare wheel. If it had, we could easily replace it and avoid the towing.
