I picked up my first ever rental from Hertz on July 15, 2025. The outside of the car was absolutely filthy. The entire front end was wrapped in bug guts and all of the exterior of the vehicle looked like it had been driven long distance for weeks without a wash. The condition of the car was noted with pictures in the pre-rental photos and in the space for the customer's initials, were not mine, but most likely the employee. Awful - reserved over a week ahead of time and they called an hour before pick up and said they had no cars. Left us stranded looking elsewhere and now we will always look elsewhere.
The hours are a little frustrating. Nothing against their staff, but their phone answering machine lists their hours as being 8-5, but their website lists them as being 9-4 which lead to a ton of confusion with our pickup. Be ware of Portland traffic. If you show up even a few minutes after 4, you can’t get your car.
