Hertz in Brooklyn Center charged me a $250 cleaning fee. I did not eat, smoke or have any dog in this car. I tried to discuss this with the local Hertz and they just transferred me to customer service who hung up on me. I have been a gold member for 30+ years and have NEVER had a cleaning charge as I clean each rental on my own. I am trying to have this removed and if not, they will lose a decades long customer! This was, without exaggeration, the most unacceptable experience I have encountered with any car rental company. At pickup, the vehicle appeared marginally presentable—somewhat dirty and visibly scuffed—but given the time constraints (the location was closing at 5:00 p.m. and the vehicle did not arrive until approximately 4:40 p.m., driven in by an employee), we had little opportunity to conduct a thorough inspection.
