We rented a truck from Hertz Rental Car at the Pensacola airport December 25-30, 2025. We are non-smokers but Hertz has fought us every step of the way to charge us $200 for what they call an exterior wash for smoke smell. We never would have taken the truck if it had smelled like smoke from a prior renter and we are not about to start smoking in our 50's, much less in a rented vehicle. I had a great rental experience - excellent service, great car, fantastic employees. However, the cost was twice what I've ever paid to rent a car one way.
I would never recommend any of the car rentals at this airport that are managed by the same person (Erik)Hertz & dollar . We return a vehicle after picking it up an having issues with transmission and had all pictures except for the front of the vehicle because they had parked it too close to the front of a concrete block wall and we had no one do a walk around of the vehicle when dropped off 6 days early for a replacement vehicle that was given to us , also to be told on a recoded line that they don't do inspections on thei... read more
