1 Star — Absolutely Disgraceful Customer Service. Hertz Should Be Ashamed. I can say without hesitation that this was the single worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. The level of unprofessionalism, disrespect, and complete disregard for customers demonstrated by the Hertz employee, Mavel Williams at this location was absolutely appalling. I made a reservation at the Fairfield, NJ location and arrived at the location to find it closed and a sign on the door directing customers to go to another location for pickup. I was never informed of the change in location even with the two reminder emails. I spent a total of $40 on a Lyft to both locations. Upon arrival there was only one vehicle available at the location and that vehicle had to be taken back to the Fairfield NJ location to be cleaned. The experience I had today will go down in the history of renting a car as the worst experience ever! This is not me blowing the situation out of proportion. A couple months ago I reserved a 7 passenger SUV online from Hertz’s Fairfield, NJ location to move my son into school. When I arrived this morning the location was closed with a note on the door saying that the East Hanover location would be handling the reservation. Booked a rental 2 weeks in advance. Called me to cancel 2 days before my rental leaving me to scramble and find another solution. Stated they would not have anyone there to give me the car. Not apologetic in the slightest. Great first experience trying Hertz…
