Wish I'd looked in these comments before renting. Can confirm this is permanently closed, as well as the Cerrillos location now, forcing you to return/pickup from the airport, because it's the only one left, and they DO charge you $60+ in airport fees, even though you didn't choose an airport location. Can also confirm there are no buses or shuttles from the airport. I cried a lot, so if you feel like crying, too, let me help. Uber is $40, but Lyft was under $20. This was the worst experience I've ever had with car rental. After having our pickup location confirmed by Hertz the week before, we had our airport shuttle drop us off at La Fonda, only to find the office closed and a little paper sign on the door saying that this office is no longer open. Called the Cerillos Rd location and got a most unhelpful person who said, no they don't reimburse customers who have to Uber to there from the closed location where we were (so another $40 spent). I returned a car to this location. Nobody was there, as I expected from the other reviews. I called the number for the Santa Fe office, as the sign on the window instructed me to, and nobody picked up the phone. I've been on the phone with Hertz customer service for an hour now trying to get confirmation of my drop off and a receipt.
I was hesitant to book with this Hertz location at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico but after another rental franchise suddenly canceled my car rental reservation the day before, I decided to give them a try. My friend who lives in Santa Fe assured me they are open and very good. So he booked the reservation for me. Paid in advance fully for a car (economy) with my debit card, turned out once there that the debit card was not enough to rent the car. Asked for a refund and they said I needed to call a number.
