This place is the worst place ever I hate this place my mom was there for 10 months and we use to be there with her all the time and they didn't like it the night my mom died she had died at 12.01 and they didn't call us till 1.30 in the morning because of the stupid nurse she didn't check her feeding tube and they told us my mom pulled her Tracheostomy off it was all a lie please if you love your loved once please don't leave them there its the worse place ever. If I could give this zero stars, I would. I also found used gloves on his night stand. There were missing items which the staff insisted I took home, dirty sheets, (I ended up changing the bed sheets myself), dirty clothes. Misinformation galore, it depends on who you ask what answer you get...they don't even know the proper forms to fill out. Most times I got "I don't know" for an answer. I agree with the previous post. Heartland Oakland was a terrible facility. It looks nice but the nursing homes are only as good as the people who provide the actual care. My Dad was there three months, was able to walk 1/4 mile daily before being admitted and wen discharged, he could not walk and still has problems with his legs. My experience is that he left there in much worse shape than when he came in! My Granny spent a few months there and she said she felt everyone was nice. She has been in other nursing homes that were awfull. she needs to go back for some rehab after surgery and we asked that she be sent to this one. This is a nice, clean place that doesn't have that depressing nursing home "smell". They are treated like they are in the hospital, with only two people in each room. The rehab people are very nice.

My personal opinion is that I was not impressed with the treatment provided by this faciltiy while my father was there. Except for the OT and PT for one hour twice a day, I do not believe that they provided proper attention during his stay. My observations are that my father was in better condition when he entered than when he left. If I am asked, I would not recommend this facility to a friend if ReHab/Skilled treatment is necessary.

My brother was in this facility far too long. Substandard care - waiting for assistance for pain, sometimes for hours. Never could get a straight answer to questions and administration always seem to be trying to dodge the bullet. If you care about your love one - please don't bring them here.

A very beautiful facility but beauty is only skin deep. Administration's philosphy is bottom-line oriented and the care patients receive reflects this. Changing their ideas of appropriate care for patients and staffing the facility adequately would better serve the patients and families.
