Status quo for any government office. Inefficient, inconvenient and inconsistent. The information they provide is either incomplete or misleading and there is zero grace given. It is 2025 and registering a vehicle, updating a registration or paying any taxes has never been more cumbersome. Embarrassed that our tax dollars fund something so broken.
If you are buying a house for the first time, make sure you register your name with HCAD (or your appraisal district and not just the county clerk), because if your title company doesn't you will be stuck with hundreds or thousands of dollars in fees and penalties you aren't aware of from the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector office, and they won't waive them.
Had a really great experience at the Will Clayton office this morning. Wonderful and extremely helpful staff. Great Customer assistance and support with my auto registration. The ladies at the first check in were able to help me immediately. As a senior with some health issues they were so professional and compassionate. Thank you for the work you do for our Community.
Needs a better management
Absolute worst. Government at its finest. We've been here 3 times so far trying to a do simple trailer registration for a new purchase. You don't find out until you arrive that they absolutely will not see you without an appointment, after you already take time off work to come here. I sent my wife the first time and they wouldnt see her. Next time they wouldn't let her register the trailer because it's in my name, even though I gave her my id and insurance.
