Handmaker is the number one choice for assisted living for your family members. I visit twice a week with my two aging friends and I'm so impressed with the cleanliness and the most caring loving staff you will ever find in Tucson. I have to say the chef and food service workers are amazing,wonderful meals that rotate weekly on a menu. Our experience was awful at this facility. My mom was there 17 days and from the first week they're were problems. No shower for 8 days, missed her meals, the food was cold everyday. They never started her on her pain medication so she ended up going into opioid withdrawal. I would never recommend this place!! Filing a formal complaint.1 out of 10 Her bedding was only changed once I 17 days and they had me (her daughter)change the bed. Very little patient care!!

Only giving a two star rating due to my Mom having a traumatic brain injury and Handmaker not being a good place for a person with a TBI. Patients who cannot communicate well and that are confused about everything, like a person with a severe TBI, should not go here. They aren't staffed enough in the Skilled Nursing Unit for a person like that. My friend was here for a few weeks after a hospital stay, and I spent many, many hours on site. They are soooo caring and homey. Really above and beyond my expectations, and I've seen many similar places in several cities.
