I walked in to the huge facility last winter, when there was no heat in my apartment. There were few people inside and the woman who runs the place kicked me out within minutes. I am alone and live with a small dog. I couldn't leave the dog alone inside a freezing apartment. This hot summer, we spend time in the bathtub filled with cold water. I wouldn't think of availing myself of the community facility around the corner where we are not welcome.

It is a center for seniors where I have met strangers who have become wonderful friends! We even celebrate our birthdays 🥳 together by visiting various restaurants in Harlem for lunch/dinner. Another plus for the center is that they also provide transportation Monday thru Friday for only $2.00 roundtrip!!
