I can't thank the staff enough for helping me when I had an MG exacerbation and ended up in the ER. Yes, the ER is overwhelmed but the staff tries their best to take care of each patient the best that they can and they made me feel really comfortable and explained every step they were taking towards my treatment. It's not their fault, it's the design and layout of the ER. There's not enough rooms for such a large hospital. The ER needs work. Took my 80 year old mother there on doctors orders. She was treated decently but slow. The One and Only nurse came in, took a urine sample, and left it in the room... and never came back for it-and she never came back -\-\ period. At least mom was in a private 'pod' room and was seen by doctors. There were at least 20 people on gurneys along the hallway not being looked at. HUMC is one of the best Hospitals in NJ.I recovered from a serious illness there in 2014.
Worst emergency room I have ever visited. Was moved from room to room, never told results of my blood work, never seen by a Dr, and was told by a male nurse that I "shouldn't sleep with dirty people" when I was sitting in the room without my boyfriend. On top of it, I was threatened to be sent to collections regardless of the fact that I was making payments on my bill (which they originally never even sent to my insurance).
