In August I received a letter from the IRS requesting $100,000's in payment. At first I thought it was a hoax a mistake or fraudulent. Turned out the letter was legitimate. Apparently The IRS had received info on the sale of my home from a 1099 and assumed all of the proceeds was income. I did not receive a 1099 and so did not report it or my basis for the home.
