Edited- to 3 stars. See below. Original post fall of 2024: Our 20 month old toddler LOVES this school. The teachers and admin are amazing. It’s a well balanced day and when I say “loves” I truly mean it. At the end of the day he doesn’t want to leave and often wants us to go into the classroom with him or goes back in the classroom to see what the teachers are doing. Serious delay in security deposit refund. My daughter graduated from Guideposts West Alex, VA location in July 2025. Nine months later, we still have not received her refund despite countless phone calls and email follow-ups. At one point they claimed a refund check had been issued and mailed, but they could not provide any documentation when asked. After that, they stopped responding entirely. My daughter has been at Guidepost Montessori since she was 2 years old, and it’s truly the best decision I’ve ever made. She loves school, and every teacher she’s had has been incredibly kind, supportive, and dedicated to helping her grow into an independent and confident learner. It makes me sad to know we have to find a new school now that she’s moving on to elementary next year, because this place has been like family to us. There is constant teacher turnover and the location is at a challenging and extremely dangerous intersection. It doesn’t help that the company is tanking into bankruptcy. Please google Guidepost Montessori closures and save yourself the headache of showing up to drop your kid off only to find an eviction notice on the door.

Full disclosure, I was nervous about the poor reviews that appeared about guidepost a few years ago. I am happy to report that whatever issues GP was facing back then have been completely remediated (there was a big changeover with administration staff). My son has been thriving at GP. Anyone who is lucky enough to get into the Spanish immersion class with ms. Antonella, ms. Yvonne, and ms. Laila should consider themselves extremely lucky.
