I called and emailed about 10 times for my daughter in desperate need of OT and based on neighborhood recommendations. They totally blew me off - never returning a phone call or email. How disappointing.
The OT's are so kind & caring here & extremely educated. Such a wonderful environment for learning & safe play for kids!
The OT’s do great work at the Treehouse! Very organized and passionate about what they do.
Gowanus Treehouse is a complete hidden gem. I've observed the OT's numerous times with their children & am so impressed with their level of patience & professionalism. Understanding neurodivergence is a major learning curve for everyone, including the parents. Luckily, everyone working within the Treehouse are incredibly kind & caring. They are always willing to walk you through any/all questions you might have. Such an incredible & nurturing environment for everyone.
We had a harmful experience with occupational therapy at Gowanus Treehouse when my daughter was 2. The OT we saw, Julia Schuette, was rigid, dismissive, and not remotely neurodiversity-affirming. At one session, when my daughter cried because she wanted a drink of water, Julia told me that if I gave her what she wanted when she cried, she’d “never learn to talk.” Not only was that false (my daughter was already speaking and now is highly verbal), it was deeply inappropriate.
