Garland isd has leadership problems. In an effort to save money they have been getting rid of their experienced higher paid drivers and replacing them with inexperienced lower paid drivers. This might save money in the short term but at the expense of students either walking to school or not making it there at all. More accidents and lawsuits due to inexperience. Save money short term but costs more long term. Needs new leadership.
We been having hard times with the transportation of our special need kid, GISD almost never answers the phone and when the bus doesn’t show up for any reason like yesterday they were supposed to send another bus for pick up which we waited and reviewed our cameras to make sure that it really didn’t show-up.. they never showed up. The gisd never informed us by an email or any other way.
The administration, staff for Garland Transportation Bus system, were very kind and provided much insight. My students have to walk between 30 minutes or up to an hour to school one way. That's ridiculous. Forget miles, and focus on SAFETY. Too many highschool students afforded a bus, only for elementary and middle school to overlooked. I was disappointed, to learn that only students attending a magnet school and those disabled are the only group considered for bus transportation. Jasmine “the supervisor” is terrible answering the phone! She does nothing but go back and forth arguing saying its the daycares fault for missing the bus mind you i drop off my son way earlier and they’re supposed to pick him up from 7:03 to 7:06am this time they came earlier than usual and dont even honk (they stop on the other side of the building and director doesnt have a way of knowing they are there) in the afternoons they stop infront of the building i dont know why is it a issue to do the same stop in the morning.
I am a high school student for the GISD Transportation, I ride the bus and my bus has been 30-50 minutes late for the past month. It is extremely cold outside and me and a few others have been standing here for over 45 minutes no sign of a bus. Called transportation services NO ANSWER (3 times). Bus 627 needs to get a consistent bus driver or GISD TRANSPORTATION needs to have more backup drivers.
