From my experience, it is best to visit the store and work directly with Geek Squad by scheduling an appointment, rather than seeking assistance over the phone. Individuals who claim to provide Geek Squad support and request remote access to your computer should not be trusted under any circumstances. In-store support is excellent; the staff work closely with customers, answer questions thoroughly, and explain processes clearly. I chose Best Buy because they are an Apple Authorized Service Provider and made an appointment online to have my daughter’s iPhone screen replaced. In the booking, I listed the phone model and issue. About 30 minutes before the appointment, Best Buy called to confirm—but the tech had the wrong phone model on file and then said he needed to check on parts availability. 3 stars because they fixed my issue, lost 2 because they completely wiped my computer. I inquired about it when I picked my laptop up, and the guy just flipped to the contract I signed and said “you declined the backup” sure, I did. The issue is that what I was declining wasn’t explained to me. I asked what accept vs. decline meant when I was signing the contract and the worker said it’ll be an extra $99. Appointments system doesn’t work, call to make an appointment, confirm the part is IN STOCK. Show up, no part. Ridiculous. Not worth the savings.
