In 2024 I visited Geared Up on the GDMBR and overall, I had a good experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and put extra effort in keeping us on the road by getting parts overnighted etc. They had great tips for the area and you can tell that they really care about the community. The shop has only a small selection of bikes, accessories, and gear but you will find all you need. However, I did notice some room for improvement when it comes to quality control. Myself and riding partner recently completed the GDMBR. We both had unexpected mechanical failures. Thanks to Andrew at Geared Up, even a rear hub failure had little impact on finishing the ride or even causing significant delay. Andrew took my bike in with 12 hours notice and immediately started working on the bike. The cassette needed replacing; however an inherent problem with CK rear hub which ultimately caused the premature need to replace the cassette was not immediately obvious.
