Banks should work for you; not double as palaces. Our little bank in Hettinger is great. Staff are friendly, helpful. The building is very plain, but one can see that GCS puts money into providing free checking instead of plush carpets and mahogony desks. Online service is convenient. Only complaint: bank doesn't open until 10 AM.
Mess up with accounts I have a savings and checking (personal). My husband has the same.We have a joint checking as well. I ordered new checks on my joint account and they were issued with both of our names on the checks, but on my personal account number bounced a number of checks. this took place during the holidays and between my wedding and my honeymoon it was a huge mess to deal with and extremely frustrating. Very personable I absolutely love the GCB on 8th in Moorhead. Ever since I opened my account, they remember me by name. My kids love going because they have cookies in the lobby. When I made a mistake once, they were very good in helping me clear up the mess. Their drive-up window is opened earlier and stays later than even other GCBs. I have referred 6 different people there and have gotten great gifts for doing so.

The only bank in town I randomly picked this bank when we first moved to town. Best move I made. They are friendly and courteous. Any request I have made has been meet above and beyond the call of duty. I've recommended 3 friends, for which I receive a gift for each referral. They, too, have enjoyed this bank. Now, they've made an agreement with Wells Fargo to share their ATM with no fee. Best bank in town.
Okay banking. Gate City does okay banking. My husband likes their online services. We would not recommend their mortgage broker, Jane. She stunk and we ended up going elsewhere. Overall, I would rather bank elsewhere but it's too much of a pain to switc.h
