My mother has been getting calls almost every single day to help "calm" my grandmother down because she has a hard time taking her pills as well as bathe. Some of the nurses also do not stay to watch her take her pills, so when we visit, there's pills everywhere. She has anti depressants which she needs to take, and if she doesn't take them it's detrimental to her health. I would have initially given a top rating and generally was impressed. But, after over 10 years of weekly volunteering, when I was sitting with my mother for hours on 3 occasions as she was dying, I was not even offered a glass of water. After she died, and while she was still in the room, I was told I had to empty it. I had intended to continue volunteering, but could not after such treatment. The floor did had different staff than usual at the time, so I hope this doesn't happen to others.

All of the staff on the third floor locked ward are the most amazing caregivers. Even though they deal every day with demanding and unpredictable clients, they maintain a sense of humour and kindness. In our mother’s last days, they extended the same caring kindness to us, her family. Thank you !
