I've been getting my taxes done for years, not always by the same business. I have never heard of anyone requiring new clients to bring in PRIOR years tax returns and ID and THEN waiting to have an appointment scheduled. That sounds like a lot of unnecessary steps and probably why they charge so much.
I worked with Althea because H & R Block made egregious errors in my Federal and State 2024 tax returns. When I approached H & R about these errors it was represented that I was not correct regardless what was represented to me by the IRS and Vanguard. The errors were so bad that the tax liability was 73% too high. Why wouldn’t H&R Block not want to help a retired individual prepare tax returns correctly?
