This place used to be the best but not anymore. They now charge a fee if your CHECKING account is under $2500. They have a new program for a different checking and savings account- apparently a little kindergartner named “Stash and Cash” accounts. OMG don’t use this credit union, it just keeps getting worse and worse.
I used to love banking with freedom first. Very easy to connect with someone to work out issues and barely any issues to begin with. Here recently, they have been charging a lot of fees and changing policies that feel very predatory to people who aren’t in good financial situations. Do not bank here if you are trying to get a good start on savings, because they will take any chance to charge you a fee. Absolutely absurd. I have been on hold for 45+ minutes, just trying to be connected with an employee. I called at opening time for a reason! Terrible customer service!
The whole reason I switched years ago from SunTrust to FFCU was because SunTrust started implementing fees just to have a checking account. I remember how FF was very excited about all of the new business they were getting from SunTrust because of this. (This is when they were still relatively small with only a couple of locations.) Today I received a letter in the mail saying FFCU is going to start charging 7 to 9 dollars a month just to have a checking account unless you meet certain qualifications.
