Better Business Bureau: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the purchase of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2021 from Jones Junction dealership, financed through Freedom Federal Credit Union. My experience with this vehicle has been filled with issues that have left me frustrated and disappointed. Shortly after the purchase, I discovered that my car insurance did not cover the vehicle, resulting in a $12,000 penalty added to the loan. Legally, Maryland vehicles must be insured to minimum standards, when there is a lapse in coverage, the lender must charge for collateral protection insurance. This isn’t a penalty as this is an insurance fee, and if proof of full coverage during the lapsed period is submitted, those collateral insurance protection fees can be reimbursed. Partial coverage results in a partial reimbursement. Unfortunately any car must be insured fully as a part of all standard auto loan agreements.
