Customer service at either the 800 or the 877 one is a sham. I am always told to wait over 50 minutes for an agent. When I had tried too many times (with the same agent) the account was LOCKED. I called my sales representative hoping for real help, and he said he gets the same waiting times. I wasted a whole afternoon and went home with a locked investment !
My husband had a ROTH IRA account that we decided to close. When we called the customer service to ask what our basis contribution was for the 9 years we invested with them, so that we didn't have to pay taxes on our post-tax contributions, we were told that the only way to get that amount was to email us 9 years worth of statements and we had to calculate our contributions ourselves! I had a simple problem with a 529 that I rolled over to another investment company. During the rollover process, a deposit meant to go to my new investment company was charged a sales commission and sent to a previous broker AFTER the rollover was performed. After many attempts, Franklin Templeton would not be forthcoming with when the commission was deducted and sent and ultimately refused to help me. I have been given misinformation regarding an account I hold with this company for a week that has resulted in my university threatening to drop my classes for the semester and no one has followed up with me about how to resolve the situation. I have filled out numerous documents and attachments all to be told that none of the documents are used to solve my problem. Why email them to me in the first place to fill out? Super sketchy.
