Founded by Herbert Steinberg in a small basement office in 1930. Franklin grew steadily for many years. Following his passing (in 1964) the business was operated by his daughter and her husband. The business is still operated by Mr. Steinberg's daughter Anita Matter-Bloom. Mrs. Matter-Bloom and her staff are now assisted by Mr. Steinberg's great grandson Herbert Matter.
