I never would have expected to be writing a positive revue related to dealing with a bureaucracy, but yet here I am. I went to the treasurer's office this morning and everyone was courteous and helpful but two people really made an impression on me. One being an attractive white female who went so far as to help me because I didn't have my reading glasses, going to the trouble of helping me fill out a form reading and explaining each line that needed to be signed. My taxes were collected, escrowed and paid by my mortgage lender for 23 years. I had to contact them to ask how do I start paying it myself? They said don't worry, the county will contact you. Don't believe that. The only contact is a very large bill showing up in the mail out of nowhere. I contacted this office the week the mortgage note was paid using their"contact us" on the web site. NO RESPONSE. Don't bother using the web site to contact them. If payment is not postmarked correctly or is received one day late, PENALTY! ... read more

Something as important as property taxes should be managed by an effective, timely, professional county department. Timely communication and responses from a tax collector is life or death to a property owner. ANY misunderstandings are on THEIR clock, not our's. That is NOT a timely, professional dept. under Cheryl. Don't bother using the web site to contact her. NO ONE READS the communications.
