I had a house in Montgomery that needed appraisal. The appraisal from Riess was 100k lower then the 1st appraisal. I then had to have another appraisal to try and get a value. Again the 3rd appraisal was 100k higher. Riess did have some compelling arguments to support thier evaluation. However the 4th and final appraisal was 90k higher then Riess. I can not recommend Riess since this evaluation cost us extra money in trying to obtain a value. It's hard to defend when 3 out of 4 are very similar and 1 is grossly different. I ... read more
Riess provided us a grossly undervalued appraisal. We were confident their numbers were very low so we went with another appraiser and the house sold for almost exactly what the other appraiser factored. Riess came in almost 90K lower than the actual sale price the other appraisal was within 5K of our selling price. Do not recommend Riess unless you like losing money.
I used Riess appraisals and was very happy that I did so. My wife fell in love with a house that seemed over priced and she of course lost it when the appraisal came back low. While she was trying to figure a way get the house financed I found a much nicer house for LESS money. Go figure this one appraised no problem.
I got an appraisal from this company for my home. They came back over $110k difference from my new appraisal I received the same month. Before I got the new appraisel I went back and forth until the owner finally refunded my money. The comps they used were NOTHING like my home. Not In my area, acreage significantly different, etc.. Compared my new home to every low income neighborhood 80 yr dilapidated structure they could find. Save your money.
