Best in a dry season. Otherwise big puddles block the trail.
Runs along the train tracks
Been exploring back here for years. The access road (Lemons Bridge Road) runs along the railroad tracks and isn't particularly scenic. After a mile or so a dirt track heads west (away) from the tracks. Some floodplain hardwood forest back there. Very quiet and peaceful- when people aren't riding their ATVs and dirt bikes back there. Not allowed on M-NCPPC property but it is not enforced.
It could be nice but looks like no one maintains the trail. From the beginning of it it's very over grown so I'd suggest long pants/shirts for bug/plant protection. Parking is in the train station so there is plenty of room.
I have been going to this place for 25 years and it’s great. But make sure in the summertime you wear STRONG insect repellent. Me and my kids just came back with tons of chiggers crawling all over us today.
