Since 1931 the Foster family's presence has germinated in the Coachella Valley from growing dates to be driving force in the agriculture community. Frank Foster left Marquette University in Milwaukee in 1931 to follow his friend Bert Ripple who was establishing a date garden in Indian Wells . After World War II Frank returned to the Valley to work for Shell Oil Company and began selling petroleum products, including pesticides to Valley farmers.
