Unless your kids love trains for the sake of trains, skip the zoo train. It doesn't go through the zoo

Make sure you see the baby giraffes. Some of the peacocks also have chicks right now.

Check out the kangaroos - it's a big enclosure that you can walk through with them just mulling about around you. Great pics to be had - one hopped right in front of us over the path.

The Zoo is a great place to take the kids. They can run around, see the animals, and learn something new, all at the same time.

See the giraffes at eye level when you go through the African journey. Pet one on the nose!

Great City Parks All of the City Parks that I have visited have been a great family experience. I have packed lunch on several ocassions and taken the kids to the part to play. We stay for lunch, play and have a great time. The parks are kept up well with the lawns being well cared for. I haven't seen or heard of any problems at the parks.

Family friendly and fun for all ages The Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo recently celebrated its 40 year anniversary in 2005, and it's amazing to see how this place has grown! What started out with a few animals in a city park has grown to a huge complex with different animals and exhibits from all over the globe! The African Veldt was the first extension of the zoo. The Zebra Jeep rides are a blast, and kids love to pretend they are driving. Next up came the Australian Adventure, which offers tons of great animals from the Southern hemisphere along with a really fun log ride. The most recent addition to the zoo is the Indonesian Rain Forest, where you can walk through an actual rain forest that is enclosed in a dome-like structure! The orangutans are a very popular part of this section of the zoo, as are the tigers. Admission for large families can be a bit pricey, but there is so much to see and do here that the money will seem well spent in the end. Food options such as Subway and Dairy Queen are available at multiple points throughout the zoo, which is helpful when sudden hunger arrises. Parking can get busy at times, especially if school visits are going on at the same time. Make sure to stop by nearby Franke Park as well, as it is a perfect location to set up a family picnic!

Great for Kids! This zoo definately rates in the top children's zoos across the country for good reason! It is accessable, and fun for kids of all ages. We live nearby, and make it a point to go several times a year. The park is exceptionally clean and many of the exhibits are interactive with great learning opportunities!
