Staff can talk to people about "How's your Mother" but don't acknowledge tourists to Cleve who have "tourist dollars" to spend in their store to keep the communities afloat. It's doesn't take much to say "hi, how are you? Where are you from" "thank you for coming to our town and shop". It's these things that matter or you get no money from me. No money means no profit, no profit means no jobs, no jobs means unemployment. Change your attitude and be grateful to get every dollar. Without tourists, you're stuffed!
