Taxes are way too high. 400k homes in subdivision and streets crumbling. Pot holes galore. Not a good feeling to start your day and end your day in frustration. Recent increase to 10k now per year. This is not Bloomfield Hills.

Got a large late fee on property tax payment. My payment was mailed from my bank electronically 4 days before the due date. Electronic payments are made within 4 business days . Because the due date was on a Monday the transfer had to be made over a weekend and the payment was not received on Monday. For future reference It would be helpful if property tax due dates could be made toward the end of the week to help people avoid this large penalty.

Tax assessor came out after I pulled a permit to change deck railing and added an entire new deck instead of assessing the old deck which was existing when I bought the home and is still intact. IT EVEN SAYS ON THE PERMIT I DID NOT BUILD A NEW DECK however; he stated THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT PUT I ADDED A NEW DECK. DOES THIS SEEM LIKE A COMMUNICATION FAILURE BETWEEN THE TAX ASSESSOR and BUILD. DEPT.???
