I was surprised to see that the self-checkout machines are no longer being used as actual self-checkouts. Instead, customers have to wait for a single associate to come to each machine and scan all of their items for them. With multiple checkout stations available, this creates unnecessary delays because everyone is waiting on one employee rather than checking themselves out.
