It’s time to cancel First Friday. There are violent, gun-related crimes each month at this point. The community and staff of local establishments are on edge and do not feel safe working downtown on any given day at this point, especially on First Friday. It has very little to do with art at this point and most certainly can’t be called an “art walk”. With the loss of food sales of local businesses and the uptick in violent crime, it’s time to say goodbye to First Friday on Roosevelt Row.
