During a recent visit to First Bank to cash a check, I encountered a policy that was both inconvenient and somewhat perplexing. Despite traveling a considerable distance to cash a check issued by First Bank itself, I was informed that the bank has a policy of cashing checks for non-customers only up to $500 as a courtesy. This limitation seemed arbitrary and particularly restrictive, given that the check was from First Bank.
