I enjoy this monument for it's serenity and beauty. I wish the fountain worked properly. The built in seating made from hunks of marble is impressive. The cherry~on~top are the two statues depicting the mother & child/firefighter. One, shows the firefighter as a child leaning against his seated mother. The other is of the firefighter as a fallen adult, embraced in his mother's grieving arms. The art model, Audrey Munson, posed for both the young, and middle aged mother renderings. Found this spot on the map to enjoy our breakfast. It's a very nice memorial with plenty of benches and steps to sit in peace. It's at the end of a quaint and quiet little neighborhood. We were there during the week of 9/11 so they had flowers and tributes there as well. Very nice peaceful spot.
