Really bad customer service :/ The times I’ve gone there and the interactions I’ve had with the guy who works there have been all negative. Would not recommend to those who are looking for a friendly luthier
Wife is from Stillwater and we’re here for the holidays. She found a couple violins in storage from her childhood and wanted to bring them home to relearn how to play. She brought them to this store. One needed about $1000 worth of work, the was a cheaper beginner instrument that simply needed a single string. Guy at the store wouldn’t put a string on it for her. I (somewhat) recently purchased a cello from Fein Violins and both the cello and the customer service was FANTASIC!!! Andy was amazing and so hopefully in helping me find the perfect instrument. He seems like he genuinely just wanted me to find the best instrument combination for my playing style and ability. My cello is amazing and it plays out beautifully while being very comfortable to play. By far my favorite cello I have every played!
Great place
Similar to most other string shops I've been to, although the studio upstairs does make it stand out. Andy is very nice. I called last minute for an appointment, but he was still able to fit me in to play-test some cellos. He did he would have had more ready for me to try if I had planned ahead. The instruments I played were set up very well. Worth checking it out if you are looking for a step-up or an adult instrument, but they also do have rentals for those who need them for school orchestra.
