Fun train ride through some beautiful NH countryside along lakes and farm country. We enjoyed a buffet lunch on our trip at the Common Man Inn. This trip could be even better if the trip was narrated by staff using voice amplifier or mics so all can hear. It was fun but pricey for the same scenery route there and back.
What a complete letdown. We came for our honeymoon. This train ride was advertised as a scenic fall foliage experience, but there was nothing scenic about it. We spent most of the trip staring at people’s backyards, a few ponds, and trees so close they were literally scraping the sides of the cars. Hardly any color, hardly any views. To top it off, the train was an hour late getting back in, and the “lunch stop” at the inn was a sad buffet of bland, cafeteria-style food. Wish I checked the reviews first! It is definitely not worth the drive and outrageously expensive for what it is. It is nothing impressive and you can get similar views by driving by the lakeshore in your car and on the roads nearby to watch the trees. Also, we were told to come 30 minutes early only for the train to leave 40 minutes late, which meant we waited for over an hour for a barely 2-hour ride and got back 30 minutes later than we had planned, so it threw off our schedule. Disappointed Review I had high hopes for this train ride, but it ultimately fell flat, especially for anyone over the age of 5. Parking was a nightmare from the start. There were no clear signs for overflow parking, making it a hassle to find a spot.
