Was rate shopping and my friend referred me to Fairwinds. Decided to signup and do their referral offer. Despite meeting the original criteria, they did not pay the bonus. This is because they changed the terms right after I signed up. I wrote their support team but they simply copy/pasted a bit from the terms basically stating something to the effect of "Fairwinds reserves the right to modify the terms of this promotion at any time," and maintained that they would not be paying out the bonus. Terrible bank, they cashed a check to someone for my account that had no funds, due to cash was sent to this person, which they received and that person also went and cashed the check over the counter with not enough money in account. They said they cashed it because I had check Overdraft? So I could cash a check at Fairwinds even though there wasn't enough money in the account. I'm out $400?

If you just want a bank for a saving or checking account they are very good. Any other banking needs don't waste your time. I applied for a motorcycle loan. Fairwinds requested the seller accompany me to the DMV to add Fairwinds as a lien holder. The bike is 2 hours away from my county. Fairwinds would not allow me to go to a DMV near the sellers home, they expected him to drive 2 hours and use a local DMV office. I explained to them a seller is not willing to travel to sign document tht could be taken care of near his home.... read more

I have been their customer for over 10 years. When I called in on September 5th 2019 to ask for a replacement debit card, one incompetent member services agent took my call and after wasting 30 minute of my time helped me to file a request for a debit card replacement which was supposed to arrive in 4-5 business days. When it did not arrive on time I called in and learned that the previous agent NEVER filed my request. The card services said to call the member services and deal with them directly. I've been a Fairwinds member for well over ten years, and until recently was happy - hence two stars - not one. BUT... I needed to open a Trust checking account for a solo 401k for my business. On visiting the local branch I found it was closed. No communication to members alerting them of this - strike 1. You can email / text / cal me if a credit card payment is 5 mins past due, but you can't notify customers that their local branch is closing? You can have money in your account and they will still deny your transactions and block your card. Customer service is clueless and will transfer you in circles to avoid resolving the issue!!!! I have called for a week straight to try and find out why they keep denying my transactions. Nobody has the knowledge to answer me. Not acceptable!

Fairwinds started out very service oriented when opening my account a month ago... BUT not, tides have turned, I deposited my payroll check via their App. I received an email an hour later stating they put a 5 hold on the check. I immediately called "customer service" after 20 minutes to request the deposit be cancelled so I could actually cash the check and make a cash deposit instead.
