This place is not what it was a few years ago. It is in a state of disrepair, shabby, musty and the man working in customer service is snobby and rude. This place is not customer friendly and I imagine the musty smell permeates the fabric. I will venture to Zimman's in Lynn, MA, which is clean and the staff professional.
Rude in the extreme! Without a doubt, the rudest owner/employees I have ever encountered in any retail store, anywhere! They are pushy, snippy, and unhelpful in the extreme. It may be with good reason their policy is not to allow customers to write down fabric information while shopping (judging by the signage, it appears this is a problem for them). Wide selection You will find every fabric at every price range in this store. It is a bit overwhelming if you are only the occasional seamstress like myself. The staff will help you if you ask, but they are usually busy with the more knowledgeable customers so if you prefer to be left alone that can happen too.
Great Store! Exeter Handkerchief Co. is great. The selection of fabric is second to none, and the staff is very helpful. They even have in house uphostery services that are phenomenal. I would recommend Exeter Handkercheif to anyone who is looking for quality fabrics at good prices, or looking to have their furniture reupholstered.

New to quilting... I am new to quilting, so of course I stop in to check out all the fabulous fabrics I have heard the store carries. What a big mistake - it was like the "snobbery factory." Not only did I feel like no one wanted to help with my questions (I was confronted with a sigh of annoyance when I tried), I was greeted with nothing but strange looks...it was like I wasn't supposed to be looking at the fabric. Exeter Handkerchief Co. The first two floors of fabric are beautiful and well organized. All the fabrics are displayed in coordinated themes with free samples that are pre-cut and hang on the side of the display. A lot of the fabrics have matching trims, which makes it easy to see the whole room come together. Very different from any fabric store I've seen, and not overwhelming. Hey owner....not the right response I have to comment on the owners response to the review by Decorator's Husband. I found the response very disappointing and unprofessional as well as the action taken during the store visit. Seriously, what harm would this visit cause the store?
