Terrific spot!
SUNY Empire State University is better than CUNY, in that you can at least enroll, but once you are enrolled, the momentum ceases. I inquired about study grants, and they told me that they will not entertain anything that does not align with their research agenda, basically a glossy way of saying they don't want to sponsor students in any activity that they themselves don't find personally beneficial, and will turn down funding a deny a student a study opportunity if this is the case.
