I reached out to Ellis Legal for help with a contractor dispute/construction defect case. In our early calls, David and I only discussed a contingency fee arrangement. Yet the engagement letter I eventually received proposed a one-time $2,000 flat fee instead — not only contradicting our earlier conversations, but also roughly 90% lower than every other firm I contacted. I hired John Ellis to represent me after I found out that my HOA planned to put tens of thousands of dollars of charges on me after discovering my building was collapsing in on itself. John then didn't have the time to talk for a few days. So it got push over to his junior attorney David DeSchepper.
