A neighbourhood institution with the kindest people you will ever meet. Over the years I have got advice on making nacatamales, on which beans to buy for a gallo pinto, and so many other tips from the owner. The folks at El Izalco clearly love their food and their culture and want folks like me who didn't grow up with it to love it too. It has everything you need from tortilla to rarer things like aji amarillo and avocado leaves.
