EDIT: They LIED to me. According to the person I spoke to on the phone, EFCU is REQUIRED by the National Credit Union Administration to send a MAILED LETTER (I specifically confirmed a MAILED LETTER), yet the NCUA regulations clearly state, "The guidance states it is a best practice to “promptly notify consumers when overdraft protection has been accessed, for example, by sending a notice to consumers the day the overdraft protection program has been accessed.” Id. I don't understand how Eglin is so successful. To my shock and horror, I found out today when I deposited a check that my account has been EMPTY for over a week (my wife forgot to mention some checks to me) and I have been getting charged almost $200 of overdraft fees WITH NO NOTIFICATIONS!!!!! I called today and found out they ONLY send overdraft notices BY MAIL. BY MAIL!!!! In the year 2025!!! Because "there's sensitive information". Around Christmas time, my son was really sick and I was by myself and needed to wire money. I tried my hardest to get this money pulled out sooner than Christmas Eve, it just wasn’t working out for this young mama.
