Even after 10 plus years, August 2013,I'm still extremely angry at the lack of care my grandmother, Ruby Mayberry, received from this place. The aide,Mary, fell asleep that night and did not place my grandmother's CPAP on her before she went to bed therefore she ended up suffocating and dying that night. All due to the aides negligence and incompetence. Her name was Mary. On top of it my grandmother was owed a month's rent that we NEVER got back from the owner. Shawn and Jennifer Easter provided a safe and loving home for my 88 y.o. mother when I couldn't care for her myself due to my own health issues. Mom had an extensive medical history during her stay there and required around the clock care. She was also under the care of James River Hospice Care. I cannot express in words our family's gratitude for the extra special excellent care my mother received by both the Easter Family and James River Hospice. My Mother was at Easter Haven for nearly 2 years. I am so grateful to God for finding Easter Haven for my Mom and for the loving, excellent care she received from Jennifer and Shawn. It was a difficult start with my Mother who suffered with dementia, Jennifer and Shawn didn't give up on her and my Mother settled in and called Easter Haven "home". A beautiful, caring place for your loved one.
Jennifer and Shawn and their family took in our mom and cared for her and loved her as one of their own. We were completely blessed by the good care they took of our sweet Mom. She felt at home there right from the beginning, and never once asked us to take her home. The meals looked delicious and plentiful and Jennifer was always on top of Mom’s meds and any slight medical issues that came up.
