DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM UNTIL YOU READ THIS. Dunham & Jones has no interest in doing the work it takes to get a good verdict at trial, but to collect piles of your money and then negotiate a plea deal. We called Dunham & Jones over 2 years ago, and things started out well. We wanted to take our case to trial because we believe in the legal system and that justice would be served which in our case, is exoneration. We were thrilled with the attorney assigned to us and felt he was worth the $10,000 it was going to cost us to go to trial. He reviewed all of the irrefutable evidence we had and agreed that this was an extremely solid case in our favor. He was very accessible and answered all our questions and looked into every aspect of our case. We paid $500 a month for 19 months but due to a simple oversight, we were a week late on our final payment. When the office manager, Mr. Warren called, he threatened to sue us and/or drop us and keep the $9500 we had already paid! We were shocked at this treatment to clients who had already forked over $9500 and were only late by 7 days! Of course we made the payment, but that incident left a really bad taste in our mouths. After we had paid in full and more than 20 months in, a pre-trial hearing was coming up with no word from our attorney, which was very uncharacteristic of him. We called the firm and found that they had fired him! No one even called to inform us. My husband spoke to the firm manager asking why our attorney was fired but they refused to tell us for privacy reasons. However, Mr. Warren DID say “maybe we did you a favor”, which seemed totally inappropriate. He had no explanation as to why we hadn’t heard from them. We wanted to work with the same attorney and asked for our money back, so he again threatened to sue us if we wanted a refund. Because our case needed addressing immediately and we had paid in full, we decided it would be best to come in and meet our new attorney. In the meeting, it was obvious that no one had reviewed our case at all. After our newly assigned attorney heard our condensed version of where we were in our case and viewed some of the evidence while we were there, he agreed that we had a strong case to go to trial. We had turned down a plea deal with our previous attorney because nothing short of a dismissal or a win is acceptable with so much evidence supporting an innocent verdict. Once again, there was no communication for too long a period of time with another court date coming up. We called and were shocked to find that our new attorney had left the firm and we had not been contacted or informed AGAIN. Mr. Warren told us that he would assign us yet another attorney and made the dubious claim that it was not uncommon to go through 3 or 4 attorneys or more in cases like ours. We were later contacted by our new attorney one day before a court date to inform us that due to the COVID lockdown, we were not required to appear. We talked to her a bit and found she had not reviewed anything about our case at all. A few months later, she called to tell us that she had negotiated a deal that required a guilty plea and recommended we take it. If she knew anything at all about our case, she would have known that we had already 1) PAID for a trial, 2) made it clear that this innocent party would NOT plead guilty, and 3) WE HAD ALREADY TURNED THAT DEAL DOWN LAST YEAR. Dunham & Jones was and is clearly unwilling to put any more time or effort into our case because there is no more money to be had and no more billable hours to invoice. At this point, we are once again at square one, two years later and $10,000 in! It appears our first attorney was fired because we had paid in full and he still continued to work on our case even though no more money was coming in. No time or effort has been put into our case other than to appease us clearly because we are no longer a money-maker. This firm is a plea deal-machine whose strategy is
