The iconic main terminal design makes a great first impression, and the overall experience is usually very smooth. My experience at this airport was excellent. The procedures were easy and smooth, the facilities were clean and very good, and everything a traveler needs is available. The system is clear and well organized, making it easy to navigate even for first-time visitors. I really liked this airport and had a comfortable and pleasant experience.

Quick layover at Dulles – does the job, nothing special Had a 3-hour connection here on our way home to California. The terminal is clean, spacious, and easy to navigate – the people-mover trains between concourses are fast and convenient. Plenty of seating at the gates (D concourse in our case), charging ports everywhere, and decent food options if you’re hungry. We arrived from Haneda airport 20 minutes early at 3:32pm for a return flight to CAE at 5:10pm. We then had to waste almost 1.25hrs at baggage claim and customs. Our concourse was like 15 minutes away from the international gate we arrived at and even while speed walking/running we arrived at our gate at 5:06pm along with other passengers who were on the same flight and others from another flight who had similar issues. You better be in good shape if you're using this airport. The gates are a long way from everything. They have a train and a people mover. Both are fun. Great sights on landing and departure.
