For TY2016, one of the professionals wrongly filed for an education credit I didn’t qualify for. When the IRS sought payment from me, I reached out to the professional as to why the credit was filed for without my knowledge or permission. The professional gaslighted me even though he admitted to never receiving a 1098-T, which is standard practice to have before filing for the credit.
