Eastern White is the inferior cedar species. Alaskan Yellow is more dense and stronger, as a result it wears better. You can look for yourself by researching properties of both white and yellow for comparison. If you are going to buy Western White, be wary of Dow's as their business is always one order away from not being able to fulfill commitments.
