Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. Best barbecue sandwiches and limeade in the state, haven't had either in eight years, can't wait til my next trip home....
We've been going to Doumar's for years since before my brother died. It was a Christmas tradition. And going there yesterday for the first time since we lost my brother brought back a lot of awesome Christmas memories. The fries were delicious and the waitress was very fast and friendly.
Great service, tasty treats! Our first time visiting; sure it won't be our last.
